Our story
Rooted in the land.
Y&A Tallow was born from a simple belief in No Chemicals! Natural all the way.
How it started
We started Y&A Tallow after years of frustration with conventional skincare — long ingredient lists full of synthetics, preservatives, and fillers that left our skin worse than before.
The answer came from an unexpected place: the Canadian prairie. Bison tallow — rendered from the fat of grass-fed bison — has been used for centuries by Indigenous peoples as a skin protector and healer. We wanted to bring that wisdom back, done right.
Every batch is small. Every ingredient is intentional. We render, whip, and pour everything by hand in Canada, and we never add anything that doesn't belong.
Why bison tallow
Not all tallow is the same.
Bison tallow is uniquely compatible with human skin. Its fatty acid profile — rich in oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids — mirrors the composition of our own sebum, which means it absorbs deeply without clogging pores.
Grass-fed & pasture-raised
Our bison are raised on open Canadian prairie, never in feedlots. Grass-fed fat is richer in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Biocompatible with skin
Bison tallow's fatty acid profile closely mirrors human sebum, allowing it to absorb deeply and nourish at a cellular level.
No fillers, ever
We use tallow, botanicals, and nothing else. No water, no emulsifiers, no synthetic preservatives. That is a promise.
Made in Canada
Every jar is hand-poured in small batches in Alberta, Canada. We source our bison from Canadian Prairie ranchers we know and trust.
What we stand for
Radical ingredient transparency.
We believe you should know exactly what you're putting on your skin — and why. Every ingredient in every product has a reason to be there. If we can't explain it simply, it doesn't make the cut.
